A Thousand Splendid Suns

You did not fall from the stars
You were made from sand and gravel from the road
Your bones weren't carved from towering mountains
that held secrets within its caves
Your eyes don't reflect the light of the sun
In fact, your eyes barely sparkle.
Except of course, when he's in the room.
Then and only then do you feel the heat of a thousand suns rise
from your cheeks.
Then and only then do you hear the echoes of thunder
as your heart hammers against your rib cage
Begging and pleading on one knee to be let out
It's only when he walks in to the room,
That you foolishly believe he'll see you for what you're not
And that's someone
who's made from the dust of shooting stars
Whose bones were carved from the many mountains
that held the darkest, prettiest secrets
You hoped he'd see exactly that; as he gazed upon you
And tell you that your eyes were the brightest light in the room
And like a moth he was drawn to it.
You'd believe him because
A boy with the slightest bit of interest
Wouldn't be so curious
About a girl who was made from sand and gravel from the road

Yours truly,
Painted Shadow

I stare at walls hoping that something would guide me to another dimension where everything makes sense. I take life as it comes. I reside in which is now known to be the fastest growing city in the Middle East, Dubai. Surrounded by fake greenery and dusty air, I long for rain. I long for rain to drench my very being, untill i feel nothing but clean and revived. I dream of happy things and i know for certain that Peter pan and pixies and fairies and Santa exists. I know. Because theres no point in not believing. Im a child. I am a grain of sand. I am a speckle of dust in this polluted world. I am a spirit roaming the end of the earth, trying to find that wall.
